It's clear to me that there's great confusion over the phrase "taking massive action".
I say that because I have seen people get totally phased out of well intentioned projects and goals. And it's because of the mental trauma they've attached to the meaning of taking massive action.
Because without some sort of guidance or thinking on that particular phrase, a person heads out all alone, in a dozen different directions at once, a mind all alive and excited and full of energising thoughts.
And then what happens?
Well, what happens next is a crashing to the ground because of being overwhelmed and swamped and devastated with all that has to be done. And that's exactly the problem - thinking that everything has to be done... at ONCE!
But isn't that what taking massive action, exactly means - going out there, all guns blazing and coming home (or if you're working in a next door room, it means you getting up and walking to the next door room!)... coming home bedraggled, bleary-eyed and totally exhausted?
Well, again, that's where the confusion starts - in the mind of someone who takes massive action to mean doing everything at once, right now, at this instance.
But here's the truth of things. We can only ever do one thing at a time. Ever. And yes, there'll be people who say that we're breathing and walking at the same time so what you've just said isn't true. Okay, so I understand that line of thinking but I'm more focused on the DOING of the business... the little systems and processes and nips and tucks in order to make everything, happen. So that's what I'm talking about.
And when you realise this; that even the fastest computer on earth can only process just one thing at a time (yes, even though it'll process something at speeds that'll simply astound us, it can only perform one task at a time) when we realise that, then it maybe all we need in order to tell us that we simply need to slow down and work on... one thing at a time.
Again, I can hear the mumblings about... "if I slow down then I really can't get much done at all and that busy-ness is what makes someone successful".
Of course, that's never true because when you see someone darting around and they're just accomplishing things at an astounding rate, what you're seeing is someone who's mastered the art of doing one thing at a time. But now, they're just doing that one thing, faster than they've ever done it before. In fact, they're performing exactly like the exhilarating fast processor in your computer or laptop like we talked about above.
So let's put this all into a workable little template for you because this really is one of the keys to creating a great business.
Okay, so once you create the blueprint or dream that you want regarding your Internet business - what you want to get out of it, both personally and in a business way, then here's a way to think about achieving what you want, about taking massive action and about doing that 'one-thing at a time'.
And here it is:
DREAM BIG, LIVE SMALL.
That's it!!
Okay, so let's put a little meat on that for you.
Say you want to create an Internet based Health food business and you'd like to earn 75k to 100k a year doing that. And before I go on, there ARE people doing exactly that.
Okay, so now that you've got your working blueprint in terms of what you want to get out of your Internet business, the BIG DREAM aspect of your business. (And it's true that a little later down the line, once you reach this dream, another will be created that's bigger, bolder and more exciting.)
Now I've simply chosen a monetary figure. You could just as easily choose a target or a dream of working only 3 days a week, whilst raking in between 50-75k a year. You may want to focus on getting that 100k deposit for a property that you've always wanted... or whatever it is for you.
And whatever it is for you, please be clear about it and please be precise about it. Because when you are precise and specific, you have a viable target and a goal to aim at. Without it, there's really no fun creating a business. There's no compelling reason to do so!
Okay, so now we've got our BIG DREAM firmly in our sights. It's now all about fitting all the pieces together. And this is where the Massive Action craziness part, happens. But it's not crazy, because once we know what the parts are that go to making everything connect together, we have clarity in that department also.
The twist here is in taking massive action on the one thing we're currently working on. That's where the massive action part comes in.
So, if we're working on the copywriting aspect of the business, then that's what we're focussing on and we're going to take massive action to making that happen. And if it's in creating a Google Ad-words campaign, then we're going to take massive action to make that happen. And if it's setting up and creating an auto-responder sequence, then we're going to take massive action on making that part happen.
As you can see, when we take overwhelming action on one aspect or one step or one rung at a time, there's a certain power and momentum in what we're doing. And this is really the way to go for those working one their own and doing everything themselves.
Of course, it's a little different if you hire various aspects of your business, out - like the graphic design, or the product creation, or the copywriting, or whatever it maybe - when you hire or outsource certain aspects of your business out, it just means that other people are creating and working on that specific element for you and are taking massive action to make those things happen.
So, in effect, you'll have this army of people all working on your behalf in order to get the job done. And that's how it's very easy to get a project from idea to being rolled out, in very short order. It's the ultimate leverage system.
But again, bear in mind, each person may be working on just one aspect of your business. And, they're taking that all important massive action on that one area.
So, have your DREAM in place. And really dream it. And then, LIVE SMALL. Do one small task at a time, but, take massive action to get it completed and done. And then... start the whole process, all over again with another task!
And when you do that, you'll soon have all that you want in terms of your successfully completed projects and goals.
I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions or any concerns or doubts you may have had about taking MASSIVE ACTION.
So go ahead, start it today!
